I'd say the actual base mission isn't worth much, altho again, it was, and currently is, free. This is actually a pretty decent bit of content, but given that it's a challenge (and a pretty tough one at that), it won't appeal to anyone except absolutely hardcore Hitman 2016 fans. They run around the map stealing stuff and you're tasked with stealing all of the items before they do, without killing them. Unfortunately the base mission is not worth playing, so the real start of the show is the challenges that IO built around the two new targets. I'm not even making this up, Hitman 2016 actually has holiday content where you kill the wet bandits from Home Alone. It's just a basic reskin of the Paris level, but the level itself works pretty much the way it does in the base episode.

But it was free even during release, if I remember correctly, so we can forgive that (more like we have to). Unfortunately this one isn't that big of a thing, considering how amazing Hitman 2016 otherwise is.

Hitman 2016's Holiday Content, which you can get for free right now on all consoles, including steam. All in all I really do think this piece of DLC is worth it, altho I recommend it only to those that absolutely love Batman: Arkham, as it is a bit of a time sink for what's effectively only new levels to play the same gameplay we've played for 4 games now. Freeze as the titular boss (in an encounter that might be a bit familiar to people that have played Arkham City).

For your money you get a prologue set in Wayne Manor (a brand new location), then a bit of exploration around a closed off part of Gotham City (nothing new), an investigation in a bar (new location), and all culminating in a new Zelda Dungeon (because the Batman: Arkham series had Zelda Dungeons. If you've played the base game but not the DLC, today sounds like the perfect day to give it a try. Freeze origin story around the holidays makes a surprising amount of sense, and that's without mentioning that this is one of the only pieces of DLC the Batman: Arkham games have had that's worth your time. The base game is set during winter, and while there's a bit of christmas decorations, it's the Cold Cold Heart DLC that truly goes all out. The three that come to mind for me are:īatman: Arkham Origins, and the Cold Cold Heart DLC.

With that in mind I'd like to ask for examples of christmas themed games (or DLC, or levels within games), and perhaps a brief description of them so people can find new christmas stuff to play, which should be especially relevant today. And by genuine content I don't mean "Skyrim is wintery, so you could say it's christmas-y". With these past 2 gens, I'm hard pressed to think of actual, genuine content that's set around christmas, or that uses christmas as a theme. I mean games released these past 2 gens, (Wii, Wii U, Switch, PS3, PS4, 360, XBone). However, can we do the same with modern videogames? I'm not talking about Home Alone SNES adaptations, or even about Nights having a Christmas mode. We can speak the same way of christmas movies as we do of halloween movies. Christmas is a pretty big "theme" in almost all other media.
